I am familiar with the great Sigma XQ series of lenses -- with both fixed and YS-interchangeable mounts.

While dealing with some YS issues, I ran across the Sigma IC adapters -- which came after their YS adapter -- and are new to me. The main difference is that the IC adapters have a positioning pin -- so no adjustment is needed -- and all the camera to lens connections are internal.

The IC adapters will work on YS lenses -- like the Sigma XQ lenses. The IC adapters included some additional lens mounts -- that the YS mount didn't have -- as well as new features for certain cameras.

It's easy for me to find lenses designed for the YS mount, but for some reason, finding lenses made for the IC adapter are impossible to find. I know that there were IC lenses manufactured specifically for the IC adapters, but I can't find them.

What am I missing?

Here is a PDF of the Sigma IC adapter instructions. If you are familiar with the YS adapter, the differences are substantial.

It is IC, not IS. I assume it mean "Inter-Changeable".

I had never heard of it before either, but right now there are 15 Sigma IC adapters, for various cameras, from various sellers, at various prices, on the EBAY auction block -- ADAPTERS, not lenses.

So you would think that the lenses would be easy to find as well. Not so, Joe.

So Sigma made some IC lenses, but I can't find a list of these lenses anywhere. My GUESS is that they were updates of the XQ lenses, but who knows???

If I search EBAY for "SIGMA YS", I get a bunch of lenses.

If I search EBAY for "SIGMA IC", I get a ZIP, NADA, ZILCH.

Apparently -- I could be wrong -- the Sigma IC lenses and adapters were only sold/available in the EU or UK market. I can find nothing for sale outside of that zone.

Seems odd to me. Anyone have any INFO?????

Is there a possibility that in other markets the same product was sold with a different designation?
Sort of like Bogen tripods?

Would that restriction make sense?

That seemingly no-one here has heard of this adapter system before, makes me think that is was most shortlived.
But then of course one may wonder where these adapters, but no lenses, you found come from.

(You in the US got the advantage of having old photo magazines online, there is no such source for european magazines.)

Sigma obviously made these IC lenses (see the link above). I can find the IC adapters all over the place -- in the UK, but no where else.

I have no explanation why I cannot find any Sigma IC lenses anywhere -- not even in the UK.

No mention of them anywhere on the WEB.

I know that these Sigma, IC lenses exist -- I have one (39-80mm f3.5).

I must be in an alternative universe.

FYI, the Sigma YS lens adapter will fit on the IC lenses, but the IC adapters will not fit on YS lenses

I did not doubt their existence, but their spread.

"I must be in an alternative universe." Yes, in the meaning that no one else chimed in so far. What I see as confirmation on the above.
