When Sony, in 1981, presented the digital photography (then named magnetic photo or still video) with its first Mavica, the technology was not at all ready for an industrial production and seven years were necessary for a slow development. This occured in the research laboratories, not only by the big actors of photographic equipments (Agfa, Canon, Fuji, Kodak, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Polaroid, Tamron), but also by specialists of electronic devices such as Casio or Hitachi, and evidently by Sony too.
