The Syncro Compur my 90mm Super Angulon is mounted in gave up the spirit a couple of days ago. It was due to a CLA since the slower speeds were way off already but now it quit working.
The CLA would be around 200$ or 133 Euro and I saw prices for brand new copal shutters #0 and #1 are less than 260$.
So now what?

What are the dimensions of different shutters?
Where do I find more info on LF shutters, not only Syncro Compur and Copal?

I obviously don't know enough to ask the right questions so just spill it
Thanks
Kind regards
Søren

www.skgrimes.com gives a listing of shutter sizes.

I've hit compatibility problems with press (self-cocking) shutters and with #00 shutters (the shoulder problem, ask Adam at SKG to explain it) but AFAIK there are no compatibility problems with cock-and-shoot #0 and #1 shutters.

If I faced the prices you quoted and lived in the Euro zone, I'd ask Gerard Metrot (Photo Suffren, Google will find him) in Paris for an estimate, also Carol Miller. I'd ask Tim Sharkey (www.lensn2shutter.com) for a price on a refurbished shutter (pardon my ignorance, I don't know what size your 90 SA goes in).

Good luck, have fun,

Dan

I think its a #0 like the copal my 15o Apo-Symmars sits in. But Im not sure at all.
Kind regards

would I am sure be able to carry out a CLA at a cost-effective price. However, your lens would fit into a new Copal without difficulty, and this would offer a guaranteed 20 - 25 years of trouble-free light usage, which no 40-year-old shutter can do. Only you can decide if this better solution is worth the money!

Soeren,
I just have sent a couple of synchro-compur to CLA'd to Marc Nicolas (Dead Link Removed or nicorep@wanadoo.fr). He phoned me yesterday. It will cost me 60 Euros per shutter (+ 11 Euros for shipping). I use to send him my shutter for repair. For my ilex, supermatic @ alpax shutters, I sent them to Carol Miller in USA. Keep in mind that a compur shutter could last long if it is well CLA'd.

Hmm Being undecisive I think I'll buy some new shutters and then have the old ones CLA'ed. Can'r have to many of them can you?
kind regards
