Greetings all - I have been submersed in 8x10 for the last month and am now coming up for air - I managed to get a 15" Wollensak in an Alphax shutter. There is a big angled opening in the side where some kind of shutter release assembly must go in - I have not seen anything like it - Is there a way to trip this with a cable and not by hand?

I've never seen such a thing. Maybe the cable release socket is broken off.

What kind of lens is that? If it's the Wollensak 15" telephoto, I don't think it will cover 8x10".

I have an Alphax shutter for my 4X5 with a 210mm lens. It looks like you are missing a metal threaded rod that the release attaches to. The layout of my shutter looks the same, just smaller. I can post a photo in one of the galleries if you need it. I do not have any way to attach in the forum, I do not have a web page.

John.

You can post an image in the galleries and attach from the forum there. In most browsers you can right click on the image to get the image URL (not the page URL), and then use the img tags to insert it in your post (not the HTML tag).

I bought the lens from a guy who said he was using it for 8x10 - I only paid 80 bucks for it and at infinity it misses the corners by 1/4 inch. Will work for portraits and maybe it will fit my 4x5 camera lensboard - it really is a monster. I will see if a bulb shutter release will fit it. Thanks all
