shutter release cable threads & length

I picked MF forum because that's where I intend to use them, I guess.

Somewhere I read that certain cameras/shutters need a short plunger vs a long one...maybe the Kodak Supermatic shutters? I picked up one today at a camera store and I could immediately see the threads were distinctly tapters (which I think is standard, right?), and the pin/plunger was roughly 3/4" /20 mm long entended

Anyone know where the exception applies? (Supermatic or ancient Polaroid rollfilm cams?)

I bumped into the exact same issue -- The plunger I use for my Rolleicord doesn't seem to be deep enough to work on my YashicaMat 124.

Same here I've had compatibility problems between Hasselblad CM and Speedgraphic cameras. I have several cable releases and got caught out on one occasion with the wrong release in the CM's bag. That made me realise there was a problem so I tested them on each and labelled them up so I didn't do this again. I don't think there is a definitive answer to this other than be aware and test out the release first. In the end I picked up a couple of cheapies on Ebay and they were each different as well but helped sort out the problem and gave me a few spares.

I bought it today, well, because I had money on my gift card there, and it was longer than all the shorties that came with three Argus C-3's I don't need. And I'm not sure where the other ones are..oh, there's one. Two in one day! Hmm, same length, though.

Tapered is standard today, Many years ago not so standard.
I don't know if I've got any shutters left that used straight threads but I've still got one or two CR's I think they're OLD Compours. Maybe? If I can find 'em I'll let you know.
