I have a Kodak 127 f4.5 in a Grafsomething Synchro-Compur shutter. The lens is new, as if no on took it out of the box. The shutter was working fine but I notice that the aperture blades came undone, popped out, jumped out, climbed out, whatever they do when they don't want to stay in place. I took it apart and spent two hours trying to get the ten leaves in place. I can't do it, it's a watchmakers job. I'm not sure that if I did it would last. The shutter is now a Synchro-Compur shutter without an aperture.

I put it away and later looked at the elements and found that they were a direct fit into a Copal #1 shutter. I took the elements out of my Schneider 210 and the Kodak Ektar elements smoothly screwed right in.

My problem is that I can't source an inexpensive used Copal #1 shutter.

Thank you Dan, I'm on it, let you know in a day how it goes.

Hi Dan, I bought one identical to that one, hope it works, it has a shutter and a 127 lens.

Dan, just an update, I got the Polaroid Copal shutter and the Ektar elements screwed right in. The lens that came with it was in excellent condition but I heard that it was made for copying and doesn't have much coverage. All things said it's an affordable fix. The shutter looks like it wasn't used.

Thanks,
Curt

Curt, thanks for the update. I first got a CU-5 127/4.7 Tominon "for the shutter," succumbed to curiosity and tried the lens out. Wrong move. I found that the lens was too good at all distances on 2x3 to toss so had to get another one "for the shutter."

People have said that the Tominon doesn't quite cover 4x5 at distance. In this respect it is like the 127/4.7 Ektar. You might want to shoot the two lenses against each other. I'd like know whether there's much difference between 'em.

Cheers,

Dan

So Curt,

What did you do with the Grafsomething Synchro-Compur shutter?

I'll send you a couple of bucks plus shipping and handling for your pile of shutter parts (all of them are required).
