Shutter issue Yashica Lynx 1000 (Copal SV)

Just received a Yashica Lynx 1000 which was advertised as the owner being unable to access the film chamber. Well I was able to do so instantly but the darned shutter has problems. For reference, it has a Copal SV shutter to 1/1000s

It seems to work at the higher speeds but not at lower speeds, and if it does fire at 1/60 or under the shutter blades don't appear to open correctly anyway. Oddly, if I use the self timer it does seem to fire but still with the shutter blades looking "wonky".

Any ideas or is this really one for the repair shop? I am a bit miffed with the description but the seller didn't say if the shutter was working and I got the camera for next to nothing.

Well, "wonky" covers a lot of ground. Do the blades fail to close? Or are they lopsided (asymmetrical) either open or closed? If they fail to close after being tripped but maintain a symmetrical pattern, it's likely a gummed up slow speed escapement failing to complete its cycle. If they form a lopsided pattern, it's likely that one or more of the blades has slipped off its pins. In either case, the shutter would need opening to repair the problem; if it's the latter, it'll need a total stripdown. A picture of the blades would be helpful.

Here is what the shutter is doing. As far as I can see the aperture blades are working as intended so it's the shutter that is the problem. The attached image is a still from a super slo-mo video I shot on my phone, shutter was firing at 1/60s

That definitely looks like a shutter blade out of position. Interestingly, those blades don't have pins on them so a broken off pin won't be the problem. The blades just have holes in them and the pins are are the shutter mechanism. Would be worth taking it apart but not an easy job.

Thanks for the info. May well be beyond my expertise and possibly too expensive to have done professionally but I'll get a quote.
