Hello!
I am pleased to be in a group show that opens at the end of September in Hayward, CA. It is called "Made by Hand". Some of the work involves digital elements, but all the prints themselves are handmade. There will also be a panel discussion led by Brian Taylor on the subject of hand-made work. I will giving a workshop on Carbon printing the same weekend, and people at the reception are invited to quietly observe the workshop in action. A unique opportunity! While most of the participants will be using inkjet negatives, some will be using film, including yours truely.
There are ten artists, including Linda Conner, Brian Taylor, Kirik Kouklis, Elizabeth Opalenik, Jerry Uelsmann, Sandy King and others. A chance to see some great work up close -- most images are displayed without glass. I have been helping with show -- a challenge to hang such a variety of prints made with many processes and make the show sing. Fortunately, the head of PhotoCentral, Geir Jordahl, is a master of it and I am learning a lot!
I am also the Artist-in-Residence at PhotoCentral from now to the end of October. I am taking a quick break from making carbon prints -- calibrating my process to a new darkroom. I would love to meet any and all APUGgers who come by for the opening -- or during the next month or so if you want to stop by PhotoCentral!

PS -- PhotoCentral is run by both Geir and his wife, Kate -- both incredible photographers and educators.
