Hello,
I got back into the dark after finding a Besler 23c in the trash missing the condenser. I added a Aristo cold light, a sensor and a variable f-stop timer. Look ma pretty nice prints...well as good as I can get it. Even after alignment the Beseler never seems straight and managed to shift between 8x10 to 16x20. The neg carrier never keeps the negs flat, the plastic gears are all worn out, etc you get the idea. Last week a Focomat iia fell into my lap in pristine condition. The question is should I transfer the aristo set-up into the focomat or go with the focomat as is? Or perhaps some combination...the aristo can be added and removed easily from the focomat and can even be placed on top of the condensers. I have little experience with condenser enlarging.
Thanks,
Chris Saganich

Try the Focomat first. I you aren't happy with it futz with it. I doubt you could improve on the machine.
