Should I buy another film camera?

I recently borrowed a Nikon F100 to shoot with for the week. Now I think I really want one. But I have two N90s, a Nikkormat, a Minolta, an Agfa rangefinder, and two point and shoots, and various other medium format cameras.
Maybe I need therapy.

I figured this would be a safe place to ponder.

With today's prices, you're NUTS if you don't buy these GREAT older cameras. I've found many for little more than the price of postage. I especially like to but a "bundle" where I get a few items, keep one or two, sell the rest of the stuff individually, and actually MAKE money -- so the gear I wanted was FREE!!!

Plus, you can easily use most old SLR lenses on many digital cameras -- one MORE reason you are NUTS if you DON'T!!!

The F100 has many more features and better AF than the N90, but what did the F100 do for you that your N90s don't do that makes a difference? You can use the money to buy more film.

This is like going into a liquor store and asking if one should join AA. Photrio is a website the premier photography enabler. So the answer is YES!

I think that the NIkon F100 is the best Nikon AF camera that Nikon built. It has all the best features without the weight and bulk of the F6, and without some of the unneeded features.

Mint F5 Nikons available from select Japan dealers for 400 USD. MAP camera is the best, look at the autofocus Nikon lenses, it's staggering. Dollar/Yen + everyone is jumping into mirrorless, the time is ripe.

If you don't mind shooting in manual mode you can mount old Nikon AI lenses on it. I love my F100 but the negative is too small for now.

In the current era of digital cameras, there are probably two groups of people who stick with film cameras. One likes the image effect of film, and the other likes to tinker with mechanical cameras. I think you fall into the latter category. Among the enthusiasts around me, people like you are called the "touching party."

I think there's nothing wrong with wanting to buy a lot of cameras, as long as it doesn't interfere with normal life. But I suggest you take a closer look at manually operated mechanical cameras. Each brand has different plans for this type of camera, and it is more fun to operate.

exactly. Emphasis on "easily". Really. Otherwise, don't
Cheap thrills aren't cheap. They are wisely inexpensive. If this camera makes you happy and you can easily afford it, dowit. Caveat: Years down the road, you'll look at a closet full of fun and wonder why you have so many cameras. At that point, your fun equipment becomes a burden to you. Imagine paying a mover thousands of dollars to move boxes of the fun you've outgrown.

The F100 is a "better" camera than the N90/s. It has a better meter and better AF. It is especially good with the modern 1.8 G lenses. With the 50mm 1.8G light sharp and now cheap. Get one and another for color, great travel cameras.

I would rather say I am looking for the best to stay with me. Been with Canon FD for years and I decided to go on with F-1 and New F-1.
Right now I am in looking for a M42 body that could meet my requirement.

I like film and at the same time I don't want to modify any lens to fit into a single mount, and that's why I have been looking for some bodies and only limit myself as a single unit as possible

F mount surely ?
I think G mounts a range finder camera .
But yes the G lenses fit , just remember that if you've any with the electronic aperture ( I think there designated "E" lenses ) then you have no aperture control .

But yes , I don't see the need to ask .
If you got an F90 , you've got tenses , so why not buy one .
I'm predominantly a Minolta shooter myself when it comes to 35mm , but even I've got an F100 .
And an F80 to go with it .
And other stuff..........

Once you've filled out your Nikon collection ( MF & AF ) you can get some nice Canon EOS bodies and "L" lenses .

Then start filling out your large format gear .

Don't worry about it .
