I can relate. I’ve got a head start on cornering the Nikon N75 market and the Konica Auto S2 market, and the Olympus XA2 market and the Pentax Zoom 90WR market and….. You’d need a ladder to see over my inflation hedge.

Buy it now! The prices will only go up.

Yes and if you leave your money in the bank it will only deflate or someone will steal it.
I just spent my tax return on retail therapy.
My wife and I have never had a joint account and been happily married for 30 years. We split the bills and what hers is hers and what's mine is mine.
Any way, now I have a M3 I'll need to get some M lens.

Yep, you and I...

I can see raising money for the 'old film cameras as the new 'Silver' ' fund. I certainly have punch line, the prospectus explaining how it will beat the S&P 500, and the head start inventory to boot.

Well ... I think I am going to lock myself out of this forum... since nobody liked my ebay-GAS-control feature idea. And finding people with similar symptoms, is not helping.

Maybe the thread can morph into a type of 12-step group.

Full disclosure: I don’t have the problem myself, at least with anything related to photography, just don’t ask me about stuff associated with magnetic recording.

I currently have 8 pairs of running shoes that I cycle through, and I'm thinking that number will grow to 9 after the holidays. One of them is a pair of track spikes that don't get worn too often, but they do see occasional use. But it's not an obsession, I swear!

Yes, a 12 step program to conquer GAS by feeding the GAS and buying more cameras, lenses, bellows, and darkroom equipment. GAS is GOOD! BUY IT NOW!

I fully understand, a shoe for every condition: street, wet street, hot street, trail, muddy trail, snowy trail, icy trail, run fast, run slow, run far, run short, etc.

Yes, I've tried that one too but I'm married to an accountant who is VERY adept at financial issues, especially taxes and investing. I point out that the 1959 Volvo that I bought in 1977 for $800 was a good investment as it is worth more now. When I tell her what I could sell it for, she points out that the $800 put into an index fund would have done much better. I can't complain since a year a half ago when I said I wanted to buy a brand new motorcycle, she said "Go buy it."

She does run the household books like a business and every cent is tracked by what it was spent on. At the end of the year she produces a report that shows, among other things, what I spent on my hobbies, interests, and passions. They are never an issue and the only question I ask is "I don't have to go back to work, do I?"

Reading some of the replies to this thread...you and I are very lucky guys.

The key to justifying any problem is to find someone with a bigger problem than yours. And if that doesn’t work, just convert your problem to a habit.

Sound advice. You should be a marriage counselor.

Photo gear comes out of my retirement account, not hers or ours. 🤑

Mine encourages me to do photography and spend money on it. The rest of you are with the wrong person. Get over that or make a change. The newer models are more flexible, have less baggage, and are more willing.

My second and third were no improvement over the first.

Some people do not want to learn and some people cannot learn.

You know, it's comments like this that make me glad we don't meet in person. Much easier not to punch people in the face for their insensitivity and superior attitude when they're in another state (or country).

We make our own decisions and live with the consequences good and bad. Hopefully we can learn from our errors.

The Ignore option is a wonderful thing.
