Hello,

I have written some code that allows most any scanner on a Windows host to be shared over a network via the eSCL/AirScan protocol.

What this means is that you can share your Windows scanner with most any other platform Mac, Android, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS by way of the Windows host, even if the scanner is not compatible with that platform directly.. Of course, some platforms require an app but eSCL/AirScan is native to the Mac , and Linux has the SANE-AirScan backend available. Android can use Mopria Scan. iOS can use AirScanner.

It works with MOST ANY scanner whether WIA or TWAIN, USB, network or proprietary interface, as long as it uses a TWAIN or WIA driver.

The software is free for personal use you can get more info and downloads at {URL removed}

Sounds interesting.
Assuming a Windows-compatible scanner connected to Window machine for file storage of scanned files and for control software to run on the PC to define things like file name and dpi, etc. (e.g. Vuescan)
...and I have an Android phone or Apple tablet, what do I see on my phone or tablet regarding control of scan parameter, etc.?

Mark, I have a question. Right now, I use Epsonscan for scanning my Epson. I also believe my Windows desktop has a way of scanning although I never tried it. What advantage is there scanning with WIndows directly rather than using Epsonscan?

Now if I use your app and another device let's say my Android cellphone, would that scan through Epsonscan or some other way?

Ok first let me clarify, there is NO COMPATIBILITY WITH VUESCAN. Most all compatibility tests with Vuescan as of a few months ago has failed. It can NOT be used as a scanner driver a server nor a client. You will need your scanners TWAIN or WIA driver.I do not know if Epson Scan Supports TWAIN or WIA commands . If it does then yes Android would scan through it with Scans transferred to Android automagically . The host Windows machine does not save the scans .

After you have defined scanner parameters in the web configuration GUI it is the client App (such as Linux, Mopria Android or MacOS) that will display the settings. Adjustments like Gamma Brightness and contrast are available if the client app supports it.

Hope this helps, and please send comments or support requests on scannershare.com. Offering free support for an introductory period.
