Shanghai... blush...

I guess I am low end... but I bought a box of Shanghai...

I found a developing time of 15 minutes with a 1:50 Rodinal mixture.... pics came out Reeeeeally dark.

What kind of developing time do you use (if anyone else admits to using Shanghai...)

The box says 6-10 minutes...

I will try the next one with 10.

We all use all sorts of films, some inexpensive some expensive. It doesn't matter. What does matter is knowledge. What you should know is ANY table of processing times is only a starting point for finding YOUR personal developing time, that takes into consideration your exposure style, your film agitation style, your water quality (for mixing chemicals). I find to really zero in on ANY film, I have to make adjustments to my developing time which departs from published charts.

I don't have my notes, but I was using it in the 8 minute range for good results. Using RO9. 120 film.

Don't feel bad. I've seen some lovely results with Shanghai film and would buy it myself if I found a good deal.

I've used it once before and found 1:50 for about 8 minutes in Rodinal to be good for the 100 speed stuff. It depends on how you meter and lighting conditions of course, but as a starting point that always worked well for me.
