My dad is getting re-married and there is a book by Keith Carter that I think would (thematically) be a good gift. I don't own the book, however, and was hoping to be able to flip through it before I bought it. Any idea which retail bookstores, if any, might have a solid selection? I was thinking of Green Apple Books in the Richmond, but other than that, I don't have many ideas. Thoughts?
I doubt you'd find the Keith Carter book there, but for your own purposes, Modernbook (now at 49 Geary) has a really nice selection of photography books, many of which they publish themselves.
Just for reference, the book I am looking for is called "From Uncertain to Blue." He travelled extensively through a number of small TX towns and (my understanding is) tried to make one image per town. I grew up in TX, but was not born there, so as any Texan will tell you, I am not a "Texan." My father's new wife, by contrast, is born and raised 4th or 5th generation Texan (and, rightly or wrongly, rather proud of the fact). Thought it would be a good wedding gift for her.
Me...I no longer go anywhere where it gets warmer than 80 or colder than 50. Northern California is all right for me, man...
