Hi guys,

I saw a couple of vids on YouTube and looked at a detailed explanation of the functions of the camera, the n8008s or F-801s and should I manually set the ISO to match the film I loaded. I put in Portra 400. I clicked the ISO button on the left at the top and moved the ISO to 400. Seems logical right? It's just that neither YouTube videos mentioned it. As though it should be automatic. Thanks!

If it helps, the downloadable manual (n8008) is available from butkus.org for a couple of bucks. He also has a supplement manual to cover the features specific to the 8008s.

It is automatic. The sensors in the cartriage chamber reads the carriage bar code. You can change the setting manually if need be.

Cheers guys, I got the manual (for free) and notice there is a setting where the camera detects the film automatically and a manual setting mode too.

Right. You'll want to override the auto function on the ISO if for some reasons filters don't match up w/ f stop factors, you prefer to over or under expose your film, etc.
