I'm looking for a pretty arcane piece of gear (haven't we all at some point), and it's a Tiffen adapter ring from series 9 to a series 8 or similar size, with Set Screws. If you or anyone you know has seen one of these, let me know. Thanks.
Depending on your goals and requirements you may want to make something yourself. I saw you also have an ad going for series IX adapter. An older style 3 screw type is very nice to use. See the attachment for one I had machined a few years ago. More recently I made a 3 screw adapter by cutting a piece off of a 3 inch ABS plastic cap. I then expoxied a 82mm to series IX adapter in place. Real low cost for me. Drilled and tapped nicely. This is for a barndoor shade project on-going.
Here is a link to my post over to the large format forum (see the photos on page 2): http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=38793
The nylon screws do not mark the lens barrel in any way. Once adjusted to the lens it is easy to place and remove via one screw. Works great for me. I have used my one in the attachment on smaller 4 x 5 lenses also. Though mine are made mostly for 8 x 10 and 7 x 17 lenses. I am now using 10-32 nylon screws instaed of the 10-24
I'm doing exactly what you are, have series 9 shade and filters, need a step up ring from ser 8 to ser 9, already got a ser 8 set screw ring. I looked in the BH site and didn't find the step up ring, are you sure they still carry them?
You will find that these series 8 and 9 rings have exact millimeter ring equivalents. I have mixed and matched several myself recently, but I have forgotten the exact numerical equivalents.
