These past few weeks, I've had a chance to learn a bit about him and I've been enjoying his work very much.

First, I had the chance to attend the presentation of a book about his life, written by his niece. It's called "La photo perdue". He seems to have had quite an interesting one! (I have yet to read the book, though).

Then, this week, I visited an exhibition of his work "Valparaiso - Los abandonados" at Magnum gallery. It's enchanting. I found his photos of prostitutes the most interesting. It's impossible to not spend quite a bit of time taking in all the details. And, wow, the beauty of those prints is unbelievable. They're crisp and have a million shades of gray. I was in awe of how wonderful they are especially having been shot in difficult light conditions. Don't miss it if you make it to Paris before the end of November.

I'm a big fan of his work as well. Unfortunately, I have no plans to be in Paris anytime soon. All I can go on at the moment are his books, a couple of which I'm fortunate enough to own.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm visiting my wife's family in Paris in mid November so this is on the agenda.

There was a handmade book layout that he had prepared and I had fun looking at it and trying to figure out what story he was trying to tell. I loved seeing that! I'm checking some out of the library soon.

One of my personal top photographers — and my favorite Chilean photographer, alongside Paz Errázuriz. His insights on photography and what it takes to become a better photographer are equally inspiring.

Thank you for bringing our attention to Sergio Larrain.

I have his book "London, 1959." Really good work. It makes me want to wander the streets with a camera, even though I'm not a very good street photographer.

I also like his London photographs. I hope you get to follow that feeling and wander the streets with a camera. Street photography can bring many unexpected joys!

I have his retrospective book, which showcases his entire body of work. Valparaíso is my personal favorite. I also own an old magazine featuring a series of color photographs he was commissioned to take on Easter Island.
