Selling images through "Fine Art America"

Has anyone ever used this website? A colleague of mine mentioned it and that they have had great luck selling on the site,
but digging around a little made me slightly skeptical. Has anyone here ever used it, and if so, did you have any luck with it?

Not used this site - but my experience is selling through similar sites (not only images) is:
You must be very active in marketing. Speak and write over on Facebook, twitter, make lots of likes, joining groups, commenting other sellers ... from time to time invest couple of $$ for pushing your site on top in search engine. It is not about how good are your photos - it is about how to be noticed in the crowd.

Could not say it any better. Been on sell sites for years, and it is work, not how good the photos are. In fact, I fall back on a statement a pro told me years ago. "it's not the better photographer that beats me, it's the better salesperson".

i have been on imagekind, for about 10 years
and it is what it is. when imagekind had a problem a few years ago
i poked around fine art america, saachi and a few other places but
but they didn't really do it for me. i am sure it is 1/2 dozen of 1 6 of another ...
i've had pretty good luck on image kind, can't really complain ... been selling
to designers and private people who want giant images i can't print myself for the same quality.

Do any of these services offer silver emulsion for B&W. or are they all giclee?

none that i have come across do traditional photographic enlargements. kind of hard to do when you are a print on demand company. can't speak for anyone else but imagekind prints with pigment inks on rag paper + canvas, so their images are sort of modernarchival.
i've seen prints they've made and they look like i made them in my darkroom. ( i've been printing since 1980-1981 )

I’ve been on FAA for a while. Sold a couple of images without any real marketing. They pay as in the agreement. I’m planning to upload more then get to work on marketing. Most consumers seem to be happy with images of this kind. When Adobe polywarmtone comes back, I’ll offer real prints and not expect to sell many.
