( 1.) A Kodak Retina II with the legendary 47mm f2 Ektar. I've tested it with a roll of film and it does seem to advance and fire as it should. (I did not process the film) The viewfinder is somewhat hazy, and the rangefinder may need adjustment. It would benefit from a CLA but it's complete and functional (When you reach 80 years old, you could probably use a CLA yourself !!! ).
( 2.) AND, a second Retina II with 47mm Ektar. This one is strictly a parts camera. It's missing most of the leather and the lens has a small wisp of fungus in it. I haven't tried cleaning the lens. The fungus is not noticeable if the lens is only going to be used on a "shelf sitter". The door over the lens isn't working--the hinge linkage is messed up. The shutter does seem to work. I consider this camera a "throw in" for the first Retina II. I hope it can be used by a Retina collector as a parts source for another Retina II..
I have heard for many years that at least in its day, this was one of the sharpest lenses ever put on a 35mm camera. Quite a few of these have been mounted for use on digital cameras and are not cheap. I would CONSIDER swapping for a clean 8-1/4" f6.8 Goerz Dagor in shutter with correct aperture scale. Wouldn't have to be a Gold Dot, but The glass must be clean. (SOLD)
