If you enjoy these sort of posts, isn't your post a bit counter productive?

I think with sports it is particually valid. The camera I have shoots 3.9 fps, which is slow and I use that to my advantage. I hate having to go through 600 images after a football game. I started a project on a construction site the other day for my documentary photography class. I took three cameras, two with motor drives and one without. I had planned on not using the motor drives. That didn't happen. I did use them because they are nice to have under those conditions. However, I used the single shot mode.

Where are the mods when you need them?
They ask to be contacted if a thread appears to be going in a bad direction. That is much more about behavior than subject matter. Click the little black triangle with the "!" in the middle on the lower left if you think that is the case.

Moderators don't censor entire threads based on the vacuity of them. They may move them in a more appropriate section. The "Ethics and philosophy" section is often about hair-splitting, but is it art, why do we do that, comparison between teas, wines, songs, women and cameras, should I take pictures of homeless people, etc. It's pub talk. Just like philosophy has been for centuries

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything. If you find a thread boring or pedantic, don't participate. In particular, don't troll the thread off topic. Lets knock off the attitudes, okay?

Personally, I don't think technology mitigates intent, and I think intent is what photography is all about. I have shot still, motion picture, analog video, and digital video, professionally for many years. Never have I come close to confusing all these things. The idea of substituting any one for all or some really doest work in practice. Why? Dividing effort dilutes intent, and the more divided the effort, the more the dilution. In certain very specific circumstances, it can work, but those are discrete events and efforts, and are the exception, in my opinion.
