Have any experience with the L-208 they'd wish to share?

How is Sekonic on repairs? I've a L-318b which worked fine
on arrival from eBay; the complete kit and like new. It sat a
few months and when checked would turn on but take no
readings. Now it won't even turn on.

NOT a dead batteries; it was tested again last night with a
good till 2014. I'd pry or unscrew but the thing is hermitically
sealed. Perhaps Sekonic has a way. Dan

I inherited a Sekonic a while back; I forget which one, and I can't find it at the moment: I put it 'somewhere safe' for reasons that will shortly become obvious. Put a battery in, and it fires up and takes readings. Turn it off, and it won't turn back on again until you remove and replace the battery. That's why I use Gossens...

Possibly a problem with a switch - I have an L308. The film speed setting was unstable and kept changing all by itself. Johnsons Photopia were very nice about, accepted it for repair (it was just out of guarantee), in the end they didn't charge me. Said it was a sticky switch. Meter has been fine ever since.

I'll Email Johnsons if Sekonic does not seem a likely
choice. I've all the pieces including the five degree
accessory. I wonder if the set ever got used. Dan

Sekonic in the US is MAC [Mamiya America Corp] . They used to have a fairly good and active webbased support forum but that seems to have been cut back.

Did you check the good battery with a voltmeter to see if it's really good? Wouldn't be the first dead new battery.

I have the exact same issue with my Sekonic 318. After reviewing the 'flat fee' repair policies of MAC's authorized service (they take the meter and if they CAN fix it, regardless of what's wrong, they charge a fee equaling about what a used one seems to go for), and another Sekonic service shop, I decided it wasn't worth fixing and also began using the ancient Gossen Luna Pro that the 318 replaced.

Which of us is going to smash up his meter for the benefit of the other?

Cheers,
