Sekonic L-358 or L-558

After having bought two Weston 10€ light meters off eBay and gotten exactly what I paid for I'm thinking about shelling up for a functioning one.

I would be interested in doing the occasional spot metering, flash, and incident and reflected.

I understand that Sekonic L-358 has a spot meter attachment and that L-558 has one built in. The L-358 + spot meter is about the same price as a L-558. Assuming I had the money (which I don't at the moment) which would you wise and kind people buy? L-358 + spot meter or L-558?

I have a L358. I have the spot attachment, mini probe and the remote flash trigger. The unit is also water resistant. One long battery. Handy and compact. I carry the spot attachment and attach when required. I did look at the L558 and brought the L358 and added the extras as money allowed. Hope this helps

The L-358 doesn't "have a spot attachment" with it, three spot attachments 1 degree 5 degree and 10 degree are available as optional extras at quite considerable extra cost, they are none- parallax and water resistant. I bought a new L 358 last year and the 1 degree finder because I preferred it for my way of working, whichever one you choose they are both wonderful meters.

To widen the list of available wishes, I would add the Sekonic 508 predecessor to the 558 to the list: variable spot meter, incident, flash, etc. I bought mine discounted as a dealer left over when the 558 was introduced, 3-4 years ago and have been very happy. I use it so much that the model numbers have worn off the case with never a failure. The only thing you have to remember is to look at the battery gauge now and then. I carry a couple of spares in case I forget that.
