Hello
I have had my Chamonix 8x10 for about 4 months now. When I bought it I decided to buy just one lens the Kowa Graphic 360mm f9 lens and learn how to use that first...............From day one I have loved that lens, its super sharp, I have shot landscape with it, portraiture with it, and macro with it....all fantastic.
I now want to try something wider for shooting landscapes in New Zealand, I'm thinking 210 to 240 range but really don't have a clue, hence I am asking the question here; What would be a good second lens to get for my Chamonix 8x10 for shooting landscape?

Thanks

Neil

I love my Fuji A 240 on 8x10 for outdoor scenes. That focal length is about the same as 35mm on full frame small format and, IMO, very versatile. Of course, I'm partial to the 35mm view, anyway!

I have a great 240mm Nikon W bi=ought off this Forum, I also have a 165mm Soper Angulon hut it's huge and heavy, there's a lot of good 240mm lenses that cover 10x8.

A Fuji W 250/6.7 would probably suit you well. Not a heavy lens. Plenty of coverage for the 8x10. Lots of forest in NZ, so a little wider aperature comes in nicely for viewing the GG when under the trees.

I found that I used the 250/6.7 often in Death Valley when I was using a modified darkslide to get two 4x10 on a sheet of film...and it is a toss-up if I use it or my Fuji W 300/5.6 when I am under the redwoods. I rarely use the 24" under the trees, but occasionally use the 19". I recently got a Fuji W 360 -- mostly for 11x14, but it is a nice length for 8x10 out in the desert!
