Hi all,

I fancy trying a Semflex type 31 and I wonder if I could a good deal from local second hand shops in France.
I will appreciate to locate this shops and I will take over from there.

Thank you,
Alex

Boulevard Beaumarchais shops are for people with deep pockets and no patience. Fun and good prices are at the Bièvres photo exchange, held on the first weekend of June.

A Semflex type 31 is a pretty specific request. Even though the Bièvres fair has 150+ booths, and a wider offering than any single brick-and-mortar shop, I would not bet on finding that camera.

Last year, 10min after entering the fair, I came across a Rolleicord Vb, sold for a ridiculous price "because the cable release socket was broken". I did not bargain. What I mean to convey with that anecdote is that it's best to be flexible and open to opportunities.

Good luck for your search. Below a few pics of Bièvres 2009.

I'm going to be staying at Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero, 16 Av. d'Eylau, 75116 Paris, France. Are the protests/marches prevalent there or not?
Protesters change their routes every time. Good news is that they're approved by the prefecture in advance, so we know ahead of time. I'm sure hotel staff will inform you. If you're ever in doubt, feel free to DM me and I'll be happy to double check that website and tell you which areas to avoid...or where to take your camera for some action! 😃

Well, I wouldn't fly to France to visit a camera fair... As mentioned the Semflex is an obscure camera. You'd have better luck looking online. As for Blvd Beaumarchais being for 'deep pockets.' It depends what you're looking for. The merchants do have to pay rent, and feed their families too. It's always worth a stroll if you're visiting Paris. I've found a few hard-to-find things over the years including a black paint M2 for a very reasonable price.

My experience in Paris (5 years until 2016) was that Boulevard Beaumarchais shops were OK, but you're unlikely to find any bargains there -- the prices were considerably higher than corresponding prices in the U.S. The fair at Bievres was always worth visiting, as vendors come from all over France and many from outside France to see their stuff, and many of the vendors are private sellers. There's also an excellent fair every March in Chelles, the east of Paris -- http://multiphot.com/foirephoto.html.

Shame on me. I had not realized that Chelles was so close to Paris (I don't live there but visit regularly) and easily reachable by suburban train. On the other hand it's just as well that I was shielded from extra temptations.

There was also this place, different part of Paris from Bd Beaumarchais. 72 Ave des Gobelins. The walls inside were packed just like the shop window. Google Maps says "permanently closed". Too bad, because it deserved to be seen. Maybe the owner should have advertised in Hipster Magazine (just made that up). Thanks to Google Street, a view in 2017:
