During lunch today I got a chance to stop at Photo Center North West ( !2th & Marion in Seattle). The main gallery has a show that, in my opinion, I don't think is thir best - I am able to see every thing they show during the year. There are some good pieces - many of them are digital - but most of the show did not really appeal to me.
The part I would like to recommend is an adjunct to the exhibit called "FototShop". This is a seperate gallery displaying galley members works ( donations I think) with some works displayed on the walls but most in display boxes throughout the room.
I have got to say that there are some real bargins to be had in this section. The work displayed here includes straiht Gelitine silver, Toned and split toned. Lith Prints. Poloriard Maniplulations and Transfers, C-Prints, Ans Various Digital. Before any jeers, some of the digitl is very good - it isn't traditional nor does it claim to be but it is really well done. Anyway - Prices run from $25.00 for some really nice Lith 4x5 prints ti about $600.00 for some over priced work. In between there are some very good values to be had.
