Seamless Paper Help

I recently got a support for backdrops and a roll of seamless paper.

The support setup looks like two light stands with a bar in the middle. I assumed that I was supposed to put the paper on the bar (like a big roll of toilet paper) but when I (gently) pulled down the paper to the floor, it all just started rolling off.

The only thing I can think of is to use a clamp to hold it? Maybe tape the edge of the paper to the floor where I want it and then raise the paper up and clamp it when the paper is where I want it, rather than raising the paper first and then pulling on it?

Thanks!

If you're using wide rolls, they can be hard to control with the simple background stands. A couple of pony clamps should help, and be sure you're in a position to stop the roll as you pull it down.

You could buy some of those expensive background paper clips, I use 1" spring clamps personally.
