My tacking iron has 3 temps low/med/high and I am curious what I should set it for with color mount tissue before I give it a whirl. I'm not sure it really matters but open to suggestions. Thanks!
I would try at the medium setting. My iron has a continous setting. I use the tissue for fiber paper which needs a higher setting. I set it at about 2:30 if it were a clock. You apply light to medium pressure then slowly drag the iron. Too much pressure and you can see it on the print face. Fool around with a print you don't want first .
yeah, aint tacking irons great... usually run about 50usd yet they have fewer controls and abilities than your average 15usd travel iron...
Sorry, I digress. ColorMount usually works a little over the medium setting. (but methinks various irons and ages of them may have an impact, so, do the standard: test it on something unimportant 1st)
Work Carefully! Assuming that you're mounting RC prints, I would emphasize that a too-hot tacking iron won't necessarily hurt the tissue, but it can melt a spot on the print, ruining it. If you're using the color mount with FB paper, a little too much heat is unlikely to cause problems.
