I'm running a PC and a Mac but have only one monitor so, fed up with swapping the cable over between the two, I bought a kvm switch. With it in place, however, I can no longer select the correct (1680 x 1050) resolution. Neither computer now "sees" it as a plug and play device and 1680 x 1050 has disappeared from the options in Display Properties. I also tried a video switch with the same result. I suspect that with this set-up the monitor can no longer give the computers the information they need. Does anyone know a way around this or am I just wasting my time trying?

Thanks,
Marcus.

The KVM most likely cannot pass the high bandwidth. I'd return it for a refund.

Kino, thank you for what turns out to be good advice. I took it back and bought a different (more expensive) one which works fine. It seems that for kvm switches you get what you pay for....
Thanks again,
Marcus.
