hello,
I'm using Adox CHS 100-35 mm and i've "furious" scratches on my film .
I don't understand where they come from , do they come from the process or from the film himself or from a contact with the rolll ??
I've tested the films in 3 differents cameras and the problem is allways here .
I put off the film from the roll before putting it on the spiral .
i dont presoak before processing .
I never touch the gelatin with fingers or something else .
I can see the scratches when taking of the film from the tank after processing .
Did some peoples on this forum have same problems ?
I'd like to understand.........
thank for help

Examine the emulsion surface carefully with a strong magnifier before loading it into the camera. You may see the scratches

The kneejerk answer is that your camera scratched the film. But that may not be the case. First, check the camera for any dust or sharp points that might have been at fault. Praticularly look at the places where the starts into the focal plane. If you can still find it, look at the cassette the film came in. Sometimes dust gets lodged in the felt where the film feeds out, and that can give bad scratches. Next: do these scratches only appear on one roll? If so, its probably the cassette. Do they only appear on one batch of film, regardless of camera? If so, it's likely to be a manufacturing problem. Do they only happen with one camera, regardless of film? If so, you probably have a camera problem. Do they happen with everything? If so, you probably have a processing problem. You see the reasoning train.

do you squeege the film?.
Watch the previous references. Try a stop bath with hardener, and take care of your water, a excesively mild water can make some films more prone to scratchs.

Hello, thanks for help ! !

My probleme appears only with ADOX CHS 100 in three of my cameras , BUT ...........

.....but my three cameras are 2 canonet and 1 canon FTb and they have the same system for loading and for transport of the film !

I'm going to test with a modern camera with a different transport system.
If the problem continues, I will sacrify a complete film for serious inspection with a strong magnifier .

I will also try to transfer the film in another cassette .

For info, I never squeege the film, and never touch the gelatin, i know Adox are very fragile when wet . I take care wit water and use distilled for chemicals and osmosed for washing .

I've found somethin interesting here : (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Look the response from Andre R. de Avillez ,it looks the same situation .

I will put the results of my tests here .

I hope you'll will excuse my bad english ;-)

Thank again !!!

I suggest again looking at the film before loading. I have a batch of Orwopan 100 which is reputed to be bulk FP4 loaded in cassettes for ORWO. The whole batch has scratches. It is unlikely that the scratches are from the cameras.

New film with a Zorki this afternoon - no scratches !!! film from the same batch .
I will use the two next films with this Zorki and if they are ok, I can say the Quick loading from canon doesn't love Adox ;-)
results in about a week !
