I was bulk loading some film when I accidentally forgot to release the catch on the loader. The result was that I had fine scratch lines on the emulsion of the film as it was pulled through into the cannister. I am wondering if I should discard the film as the scratches will mar the image or should I see if I can obtain usable images. The scratches are not deep and seem to be only on the emulsion.
If you have a lot of rolls that were bulk loaded, shoot them and before you print, coat the negs with Edwal No-Scratch.
This should remove the scratches temporarily, while you print. Then you just wipe off the Edwal and you're done.
The No Scratch fills in the minute scratches and most times allows a good print without visible scratches. Good Luck
If it's just a couple of rolls I would toss them. If there quite a few I guess I would use them to try out a new developer. With luck the "No-Scratch" will save any shots that you want to keep. (Saved me many times :>) )
I think tossing the roll would be the best bet as the film is Ektachrome slide film. Although the scratches seem minor, there's no point to wasting money on development if the scratches are visible upon projection.
BTW, I was surprised how well Edwal's "No Scatch" chemical worked on my B&W film.
