I just got done developing some 35mm negatives. I am now scanning them are there are a lot of scratches. However, I developed some 120 last night with the same tank and sames reels and didn't get any scratches. The 35mm negatives had to hang over night.

120: FP4+
35mm: Plus-X
Developer: D76

Cameras: Mamiya RB67 and Canon AE-1

Any ideas how I can fix this problem? I don't have a drying cabinet.

Commercial cassette. Fairly long, about half a frame in length. Still scanning the rest of the roll and haven't noticed anymore. They were on about 6 frames.

Quite possible dust or grit got caught in the light-trap. As the film was advanced, it dislodged, hence only a few frames were affected.

I always remember a customer pulling her film out of the bottom of her handbag, covered in all the wonderful things that linger at the bottom; you name it, it was on that film's light-trap! This was only one of a few times I actually removed the film from the commercial cassette to ensure the film didn't get scratched, and placed it into one of our own processing ones. Again, we had to keep these scrupulously clean as well to prevent the same thing occurring when using these too.

Some scanners also have problems with scratches for some reason. I've had frames print fine and scan disastrously.

Good to know because I do intend to print these in the darkroom at soem point.

Also, how would I go about removing water spots on negatives that have already been cut?
