I am happy to report that I just completed the last leg in getting the EverSmart Pro functional. It was purchased used on ebay for a pittance, but then I had to put some money in repair and in acquiring software and a calibration slide. Now it is fully functional but for weeks I have been agonizing on how to get it up two flights of stairs to my work room, a rather daunting task because it weighs some 160 lbs. I originally planned on pulling it up on the Sherpa cart, but then I rememberd that when I did that to install my ULF-29 platemaker, which weighs less than the EverSmart, I almost lost it when one of the handles broke off near the top of the stairs.
Solution was muscle. I dropped by the gym yesterday where I work out, holding two $20 bills, and within minutes had a couple of very muscular young fellows in my car ready to do the work. Took those dudes about two minutes to carry the heavy scanner up two flights of stairs and deposit it at its new home next to an old G4 running OS 9.2.2.
My wife complimented me on the solution, and offered the comment that it was rare to see me make such good use of the brain.
