Hi,

I am sorry to barge in like this without any formal introductions, I promise I will make up for that one.

I used to do B&W photography in my teens and am trying to pick up the thread again ( not easy with two young children and studies  )
I know how the process goes from developing film to the actual printing on photograhy paper.

Right now as a short task at the end of my spring term I decided to do a little project about the Chemistry of Photograpy. My problem is that the books I used to have on the subject got lost during my move to Sweden so I need help.

I need to know the basic chemicals that react to light in the filmroll. If I remember right is is some form of silvernitrate involved. What is the name of the chemical that fixates the filmroll? And of course I need to have the same for the actual printing, what responds to the light in the photography paper? And what fixates it?

I am gratefull for any assistance and/or links about this subject.

Film contains Silver Halides, and I think most of it is Silver Bromide. Fixer is either Sodium Thiosulfate or Amonium Thiosulfate.
