I have a Schneider Symmar 240mm f5.6 convertible lens for sale. When you unscrew the front element the rear element alone becomes a 420mm f12 lens. But you probably knew that already! Both configurations cover 4x5 with loads of movements and will cover 8x10 with a bit of room to spare. This is a great 8x10 lens as it covers both slightly wide and portrait focal lengths. The lens is mounted on a Sinar DB board, so you will need a Sinar system to use it, or else re-locate it into an appropriate shutter.
Both the front and rear element groups have some haze, but it is NOT fungus. If you do some homework on these original Symmar lenses you find that there is "off gassing" inside over time, from the paint on the inside of the barrels. It can be cleaned with lens dis-assembly but in truth it doesn't show up on the images or reduce contrast significantly, so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
The price reflects both the condition of the glass and the requirement to have a Sinar to use this. It is a great deal on a great lens.
Pictures and shipping quote to follow. Thanks!
