I managed to pick up a 47mm f8 lens in early January, but it didn't come with any caps. Can anyone explain the difference between the 223/67 42mm lens cap and the 223/19 42mm?

I have a 223/19 cap from my 135mm, but it is slightly too big - it slips off the 47mm easily, but I'm not sure if that is due to use?

The cost of postage for these to Australia is pretty darn ridiculous ($65 plus!!!), so I don't want to be buying the wrong 42mm cap if I decide to bite the bullet or can combine with something else

Any suggestions?

Not to be a complete idiot or anything, but why don't you do what I do? My 47/5.6 SA has a snap-in front cap. The lens travels in a plastic (HDPE?) food storage container with its rear cell facing the bottom of the container and in a bit of plastic extracted from a medicine (pills) bottle's cover. The food storage container protects it from shocks, dust, water and evil spirits.

You ought to be able to get snap-in lens caps locally.

I'll check this out, Dann.
The smaller caps seem to be thin on the ground here but there is always eBay if no joy. I like your container idea - especially to keep out the evil spirits!!
