Does anybody have any idea what this lens covers? On a lark, I bought one on Ebay with minor seperation on the front element for $53. This lens is huge! Over 4 1/2 inches in diameter, my quick focus an image on the wall test is not very good, the huge window in my dining room isn't nearly big enough to get an effective test, I can swing the lens a good 20 degrees before I start getting some vignetting. Looks like I'm going to be building something bigger than 8x10 in the near future, the question is, how much bigger?

Hi Erie,
if you look in the Schneider archives, you will find pdf's with info on your lens. Your lens was made to cover 300 x 400 mm, so nearly 12 x 16 inches. So not big enough for that 8x20 camera, if that was what you were thinking. We've got one too (with lens caps, yeah) and are still collecting stuff to build a camera around it. It's so heavy, this lens, that you'll need to think well about the way to mount them. That's why people prefer the smaller cousin, the G-Claron 355 - but it will cost you more than $53.

Mounting is the least of my problems, I have a cnc router, and access to a full machine shop. I'm sure I can come up with something quite secure. I just bought (about 15 mins ago in fact) a Linhof/Symmar 360 F5.6 which I assume is the same lens, but in a compound shutter, though the element spacing on this one is ~85mm, and a #3 shutter has a flange to flange distance of 45mm (might be the only difference, either way, I'll mount these on it and see what infinity looks like, just for the heck of it) so... either it's stereo 8x10 (hah!) or the componon will be going on either of our 8x10 enlargers. Glass this big just begs to be used...
