Schneider 72mm SA XL Rear Element is dullsville

So, I came across a used Schneider 72mm SA XL and decided to give it a try. Glass wise, I don't see any imperfections except there is this inequality that keeps bothering me. When I look at the front element, it is crystal clear, contrasty and clean. When I look through the rear element, the glass seems - well - different. It is clear but the contrast and overall "shimmer" isn't the same as the front. I've gently cleaned the rear lens thinking there was some type of film on it. No improvement.

I've compared this observation with my Schneider 110mm. The 110 is perfectly clear and contrasty front and back. So this is a shout out to others with this lens. Has anyone made the same observations or do I have a faltering lens? Does the rear element on your lens seem a bit dullsville?

Shine a small light through from the front. If there is something wrong, you will easily see it.

Thank you for your response. I did try that. Saw the usual amount of dust specks and a slight hint of what I would describe as lens cleaning residue. Seems ok....right up until I look at the front and then compare it to the back. Argh.

So you do see something? Yeah sometimes a lens looks OK shining the light from one direction but not from the other. Obviously a perfect lens is best, but I've learned to judge what sorts of things actually are a serious problem. Haze is an image quality killer. Dust and scratches really don't hurt much of anything.

Yeah - there is somewhere there. Back it goes.
