Scanning in Fuji Instax

Hi,

I thought I would treat myself to a Fuji Instax Mini 55 as a bit of fun, does anyone have any recommendations on how to scan the film in, I tried yesterday (I've got an Epson V750 using the included software) but I seem to get bleeding coming in on the sides. Is this just the format or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks, here is the photograph, it just seems to be around the edges.

I think it must be the way I am scanning as looking at your photographs (which I really like) they are fine around the edges.

I'll play 'customer support' for a while, though caveat emptor with me. Describe step by step how you scan. What equipment, what software, what settings, etc... The whole nine yards.

Thank you.

I'm using an Epson V750 Pro on a Mac with the Epson Scan Software.

I have the following settings:

Document Type: Reflective
Document Source: Document Table
Auto Exposure Type: Photo
Image Type: 48-bit color
Scanning Quality: Best
Resolution: 3200 (this could be a bit too high)
Unsharp Mask turned on
Digital ICE Technology: High

After the preview I drop a little box round it just to select the photograph and once scanned I then imported it into Lightroom 2.0 as a Tiff file

What do you do with the file in Lightroom to prepare it for the web?

The file you attached is a JPEG format. So what are steps you did to create the JPEG file?

Also that JPEG file is 600 x 386 pixels, but you scanned it in at 3200dpi, so what size of canvas did you scan it in at? Original or some other size? If a larger size canvass, I assume you reduced the pixels? How'd you do that?

The last two sets of questions have nothing really to do with the image bleed, but I'm just curious.

Hi,

When scanning it in the Width is set to 8.50 inches and the height to 11.70 inches and scale is 100%.

I export to a Jpeg I use the following settings:

Quality 76
Color Space sRGB
Resize to fit: Long Edge
Don't Enlarge
750 Pixels
Resolution: 72 pixels per inch

Hi,

I've just been playing round and by removing Digital Ice its now looking fine. I don't truly understand Digital Ice, it doesn't seem to work on B&W negatives or instant film only on colour negatives, I think going forward I will only turn it in if the scan doesn't come out well with it off.

DIce only works for slide film, colour negative and for b&w chromogenic films like Ilfrod's XP2.
