Hello all,
I'm trying to scam some old 110 negatives on a Canon MP970. The scanner does not come with a template/holder for this size so I'm pretty to much forced to just lay them down on the glass. First of all let me say that I know nothing
at all about photography so this is a learning curve for me, I know the shinny side goes down (I first thought it went up).
I was thinking of buying some anti newton glass to help flatten them while scanning..
I'm looking for the best possible method to do this without getting newton rings. I would wet mount them but Im not sure the scanner has an auto focus so the extra glass on the bottom might throw off the focus..any help here would be great.

These negatives are of my first girlfriend who has since passed away. Her family lost all family photos in a fire and reached out to me to see what I had. What I do have of her is pretty much all that exist...anywhere. I need them to look thier best.

Thanks all who help..

I scanned all my collection of 110 film using the film holder on my Coolscan by putting the strip to show in the frame as shown below.

My Coolscan scans a frame at a time so I had to move the next frame in the window and was very tedious. This was offset by the fact that it only took a few seconds to scan a frame. On your scanner, the frames may line up more conveniently? I wonder if you can lay the strips of film directly on the glass like I tried on my V700 flatbed? Focus may not be ideal though.

BTW, how many frames of 110 film are you going to scan?

Not too may but someone cut them into separate pieces so the pictures are intact just not in one strip anymore so using the holder wont work...

Wonder why one would cut it to each frame? Are these color slides? Even then I've never heard of mounts for this size film. Certainly makes it a little bit inconvenient even if you were to try to assemble them on a glass carrier. Curious how many frames there are to scan.

You need something like a Minolta Multi Pro which uses glass film holders.

Does the MP970 have negative scanning capability? On google it looks like a regular flatbed Scanner/printer.
If the observation is correct, you can't make a reasonable quality negative scan on that scanner, I'm afraid.

Film holders are available for 16mm (110):and Minox. Google internet or try eBay. I use them for Minolta 16 and Minox on Eason 750. If you use 110 frequently I would acquire Nikor steel reel or suitable plastic reel and process at home for better quality control.
