My new toy, and the capstone of my darkroom. A Beseler 45-VXL. Came complete with voltage stabilizer power supply and baseboard. I already have a light source for it, so I'm good to go.

And the best part? it was free.

The other two on the table are not mine. I only have room at home for the V-XL - my 45MX (blue beast version) takes up more than enough space as it is. The other two Beselers on that table went to the junkyard. Both had blown color heads that were beyond economic repair for a small non-profit organization, and the 45M-series also had alignment issues. I did what I could to save one. I don't know what I'll do with my 45MX at home.

Enjoy, you deserve to have great equipment. Thank you for your help with the Graflex back in Virginia.

nice! good score. I have one too, definitely the best Beseler I think. Free is great, but I only paid $250 for mine which was in great shape, had the full motorized setup, head, and the manual cables too. Consider the Beseler-Minolta 45A head if you get a chance, IMNSHO it's the best color head for these, and nice for B&W too since the colors are independently controllable in 1cc increments.

Looks wonderful! I'm sure you will make great use of it.

Although I must confess that when I saw the thread title and saw who had started it I was concerned that you were referring to something in your APUG gallery from a few years ago.....:surprised:

No... I wasn't going THERE. It was just an ironic Scarface reference considering how NOT little the 45V-XL is.

I have perhaps THE best VC b/w head for it now - the Oriental VC-CLS cold light head. I'm not printing RA-4 at home because I don't do enough of it to justify the cost and waste of materials.

Also, I've heard that the Beseler-Minolta head has some significant reliability issues, so that's why I've stayed away from it.

Congratulations and enjoy the use of this beauty. I have had my 45V-XL with Universal Color Head and controller for a long time.
