This is 2017 8th edition, the publisher's (Steidl, Germany) stock of which lasted for less than one year.
176 fully illustrated pages, 8 x 1 x 8.2 inches, weighing 1.6 pounds.

This is a reprint of the immensely successful Early Color (2006), which presented Saul Leiter's remarkable body of color work to the public for the first time in book form. Although Edward Steichen had exhibited some of Leiter's color photography at The Museum of Modern Art in 1953, it remained virtually unknown to the world thereafter. Leiter moved to New York in 1946 to become a painter, but through his friendship with Richard Pousette-Dart he quickly recognized the creative potential of photography. Leiter continued to paint, exhibiting with Philip Guston and Willem de Kooning, but the camera remained his ever-present means of recording life in the metropolis. I am puzzled... How can Leiter who died in 2013 have signed a 2017-edition sample?

The hand written signature following the final photograph on the last page is now questionable.
Perhaps it's a reproduction of Leiter's signature ?
Since the authenticity of this signature is in doubt, I'm withdrawing the sale of this book until the publisher can explain the presence of the dedication and signature.

I thought of an old signature added to the book. Not sure how usual such is. But it should be clear at inspection of the paper or the binding.

The dedication and signature appear to my eyes as real, black ink.
Held up to a light at an acute angle, the ink appears glazed and slightly raised.
But, it could be the result of an excellent reproduction of Leiter's signature.
Unfortunately, a digital posted photo of the signature in this forum would be of no value.
The binding is secure; it appears that no extra page has been added.
I've written a letter to the publisher for clarification.

I feel stupid for posting in this thread and not noticing the date discrepancy.

So you bought the book directly from Steidl? I didn't know that they ever offered signed copies of this book. Curious to hear what they have to say, keep us posted.
