Just received USPS notification that my 4x5 and 5x7 Satin Snow ground glass is on it's way from Dave Parker! :D

Just so you can gauge when you may receive yours, mine were ordered in September. The demand for the glass is so great that the wait is 5 months now. All through that time I've communicated with Mr. Parker once or twice. He has responded to my e-mails immediately, with great politeness and valuable information. I have no complaints, on the contrary, I have great appreciation for the way he conducts his business...

I smoke a pipe, so I appreciate his warning that his glass is hand-made in a smoking environment. I will be sure to take a good whiff before I install it in my cameras!

I ordered 2 from Dave last year and had great service, although my wait was only 3 months. I'm not a smoker, and if I'm honest I only noticed the smell of tobacco smoke because I'd read the notice he put out and looked for it.

I'm must admit I was very pleased with mine, a very noticeable improvement over the original GG.

cheers

Martin

I like Dave; I like my Satin Snow GG... but being very, very sensitive to smoke I just about died from the packaging. I sneezed so hard, and sneezed so often, I think half of my brain went into the tissue. I'd guess Camels or Marlboros -- lots of them and no filter. Apparently the distance between WY and CA isn't quite far enough to "air out" the packaging material.

Hi Brian,

The distance between Wyoming and eastern PA isn't enough to air out the packaging either. I have one of Dave's Satinsnow GG in my Linhof Technikardan 45S which I like very much and am now awaiting one for my new Toho Shimo FC-45X. I can only hope that it arrives in time for installation, testing and for my trip to Oregon starting May 1 for 3 weeks.

I've had one on order since mid December. I guess I should follow-up on that - seems longer than I've ever had to wait for one. (this is #3)

The longer wait time is good to know and not outside my expectations. I have several of Daves screens and find myself needing 3 more. I better get that order in!

I'm not a smoker and am pretty sensitive to it but it was still a non issue when I got my glass. I just took the packaging outside. Seems hardly worth mentioning.

Alan.

Is there a screen that fits an MPP Mk-8 5x4 camera?
What is the link to Satin Snow?

Thanks for any information.

Dave lives in Montana.

Just a lurker here but felt compelled to post since I noticed this exact thread has been cross posted on several other forums today. Call me paranoid but I would say something odd is going on here? In any case I will be holding onto my beattie intenscreen which is nearly 2 stops brighter.

No, they're really after you, Nick! Hold onto your intenscreen, glad you like it. I put one in my Hassy, tried it for a while and didn't like it.

I have Dave Parker's Satinsnow GG - love em! - installed in all my view cameras .

BTW Brian, I think Dave's a (gasp, choke, wheeze) pipe smoker.

and 20x the price...

I use Maxwell screens in my Rolleiflexes but Satin Snow are just the trick for a view camera.

In my delight after so much wait, I posted in all the forums I visit. Although I have no connection, commercial or otherwise with Satin Snow or with Dave Parker, the arrival of his glass is a cause for celebration and great pomposity! (on my part)

Sorry to frighten you. Don't hold on too strongly to the Beattie, you could cut yourself! :D
