Folks

I have always been very open and up front with our product, but I do have to say, things have become very overwhelming and I am sorry to say, currently,, we are working on a 6-10 week delivery time with screens, we are a product of our own making and your confidence, but I cannot keep up the pace at which I and my wife are going, unless there is an emergancy, I cannot guarantee delivery quicker than the 6-10 week time frame...

What many don't seem to realize, is we are a very small company, working out of our home, all of the screens we make are made on our kitchen counter, I have been working on a shop to move it out of the house and it has not quite happened as of yet, I am sorry, as a working photographer, I also have contracts that I have to fill, and with over 2200 individual orders we have taken in June, July and August, we are going to be working on getting these done and out to the customers before the end of the year...

However, I do have to thank each and everyone for making us the number one selling glass in the industry and we are working very hard to ensure everybody gets there screens, but as we are only two people running three seperate businesses, it has become very difficult to keep up the pace, every single person or company that has ordered screens from us will get their screens(s), just perhaps not as quick as I thought they would.

Thank you, I really am thankful for a group of people like you and we are, whether you believe it or not, am trying to get them out as fast as we can.

Sounds like a good time to raise the prices a bit!

Your work is excellent Dave and it is worth waiting for especially with the quality you provide.

Congratulations. The screen of yours that I saw was great. Are you still taking new orders, or should folks wait a while before placing an order?

Good morning, yes we are still taking orders, I just wanted to be up front with everybody that it could be a while before it gets there.

Thanks again.

Don't forget to take a break once in a while and go fling some arrows or try to fool some brookies...

I'd rather have someone tell me honestly that it will be 8 to 10 weeks than being told "Any day now" for the next eight weeks.

The good news here, and also with JandC, and also with APUG is that there is such a healthy, robust interest in traditional photography that businesses that started up just a few years ago to support a waning market can barely keep up with the demand and need to expand by leaps and bounds just to keep up.
Now there's a story that you don't see in the business news

They're still worth it, even with the wait. Best doggone ground glass I've ever used, including some much more expensive. Good luck to you (and to your poor, long-suffering wife!)

Dave;

Thanks for the superb product for all of us LF and MF photographers.

I applaud your efforts, and especially appreciate what you have done for me. Just taking a day off to join us all for lunch was a great treat for me and a big sacrifice for you. But, take more days off. You deserve them.

DAve, thanks for this open and honest assesment of the business situation. You have a great product and I think we all appreciate your openess as much as we do the excellent screens.

(note to self...hmmm, let's see, three cameras, four backs and only two pieces of SatinSnow GG...maybe, I should get an order in...)

Dave,

Just another small voice in the wind saying: Keep up the GREAT work! Your Satin Snow GG provides a much smoother (cleaner?) view than the originals replaced and are certainaly worth the wait. You are to be commended, too, for being honest and letting folks know what the actual wait is.

All the best to you and your wife.

Dave,
I'll add my endorsement for your wonderful products and add that I certainly wouldn't mind paying more for them if it meant you could improve your production efficiency and make things a little easier on yourself.

Hang in there.

I'm afraid your business model is going to ensure its demise. Think about it. Your product is in great demand, but the two variables that are elastic in your model are your stamina and delivery time. Common sense dictates that you reduce the pressure on these variables by increasing prices to a point that demand is reduced to the level of supply (your stamina and lag time). We would like to see you around for a while.

I'm sure glad I got what I need before Dave takes Tim's advise. But from abusiness perspective, Tim might be right!

Thanks Tim,

But if things go the way they look like they will, both of those variables will be taken care of in the the future.

Dave,

Sounds like you are not charging enough for your glass! (I know folks will love me for that one.)

BTW, one hell of a good job on the print quality in the magazine. Well done.

Robert Thanks,

Not that I want to, but I am going to have to raise prices a small bit on the screens here in the future, which anyone that knows me, Knows that I hate to do that...we are evaluating the costs opposed to the selling prices, it won't be a big increase, but my costs have gone up, so I am going to have to raise a small bit, hopfully not until the end of the year..
