Same problem, new thread. Jobo processor leaves dark edges 120 film

I processed three 120 rolls of film and one 135-36 roll of film, all Tri-X, using the plastic Jobo reels. Two of the 120 rolls have the black edges sporadically but not intruding into the image frame. The other two rolls do not have any problem. The tank was checked for level before and reels had been cleaned with a tooth brush. For some reason the 120 emulsion must be pressed against the plastic while the developer is in the tank and later the stop bath and hypo get to the edges. I always remove the film from the tanks and use a plastic bowl to PhotoFlo. Based on other threads, I believe that I have taken all the precautions that I can and this is just the way it is.

Do you mean the edge is fogged or unfixed?
If the film stuck to the reel, I'd expect to see undeveloped and unfixed emulsion that would go clear in subsequent fixing. If it's black it would imply it got developed and was light struck prior (and subsequent fixing wouldn't change it any). The two conditions can look somewhat similar.

Make sure the lights are dim when the rolls are handled prior to for loading in both the camera and Jobo tank.

+1 It sounds like a light strike to me as well. 120 is notorious for edge fogging like this. Another cause of areas of increased density is physical damage, which, in effect, exposes the film so that it develops out. If your bruising the edges, this might be your problem as well. And, finally, do make sure it is not unfixed emulsion from the edges somehow not being exposed to the chemistry during processing. I can't really think of any other causes of this.

Pretty normal with my 120 and 220 in Patterson reels any size of tank.
If it does not get into image or total edge numbers don't worry.

Black edges. Ok, edge fogging. I thought that there was something I did wrong in processing. I will have to roll the film more tightly. Thank you.
