I want to start with testing some saltprinting. I have the paper, the gelatine and the salt. Now I am waiting for the silvernitrate, but it should arrive any day. I have read varius ways of doing saltprints. My plan was to do the simplest and when mastering that move on. Please let me hear Your experiences. Anything I should now before beginning, that is not covered in the most common articles.
This link is as good a starting point as you will find. Several formulas indicate that it is not a very exact science, but it will get you started in a very simple manner.
Far and away the best source I know of for salted paper prints is James Reillie's book, downloadable from here: http://albumen.stanford.edu/idx/c20.html
It is well worth carefully studying the passages on salted paper right at the beginning, and start any exploration from there.
I paid a high premium to purchase a hard copy of Reilly's book a couple of years ago. Its good to see they have it online. Excellent book, a must have for the albumen printer also.
