Salt Printing with Stuart Kuhn - a one day hands-on workshop in Brighton U.K. covering early wet-process photographic printing.
May 7th or 21st 2016, 10:00-17:00, £150.
Offered by Siderotype.com as part of the Brighton Festival 2016.
During this workshop you will coat chemical solutions onto high quality paper and use an enlarged negative (produced from your own image) to make an exposure. Once printed out this image will be fixed and washed to produce a print shown in some cases to last as long as 150 years. You will be given the general history of the process alongside other early photographic methods (such as daguerreotype and chrysotype) and you will be shown the minimal yet necessary safety precautions. You will also be given guidance on further research into salt printing should you wish to gain experience and achieve a higher level of control.
This fun, safe and education day will be suitable for all levels of experience. By the end of the session you will be in a position to consider making future prints for exhibition.
Limited to six participants, your only requirement will be to provide three digital files, from which one will be selected to produce a digital negative.
