Winter is upon us in the Northern Hemisphere so the average temperature of the water coming into the house, and hence into my print washer, has fallen to 11 deg C. It'll fall to about 8-9 deg C by mid January.

Generally it is recommended that prints are washed with water in the 18-20 deg C range.

I did some test prints yesterday and carefully observed the behaviour of the print in the washer. The usual cloud of white crystals could be seen floating off the paper at about the usual speed.

I imagine that colder water would require a longer wash, especially to remove the rather more insoluble hypo.

Anybody got any time data?

Thanks

Simon
