No, not the animal variety :D

I'll be driving from Salt Lake City to Boulder Utah on Saturday, and I was looking for some guidance on any photographic road kill along the way. I won't have time to make any hikes along the way, so I'm looking for any interesting vantage points from the highway. I would also consider short excursions off the highway as well, but no hiking (unfortunately - I'm a little pushed for time....)

Once in Boulder, I'll be heading into Escalante Canyon for a week, which should be really, really interesting.

My drive to work involves a section of road where there is always dead deer and other animals.
It's a two lane road, State Road 68, better known as Redwood Road, or Camp Williams Road on this particular stretch.
It's on the Southwest corner of the Salt Lake Valley.
I don't know which way you are going, I-80 or I-70, but I'd assume you are going I-80. If you are going the I-70 way, you'll probably find some road kill through Spanish Fork Canyon (US 6/191) on the way to Price and Green River.
You'll probably find some on I-80 in Wyoming.
Good Luck!?

The obvious thought is to make a very short detour off the 12 into Capitol Reef certainly as far as the visitor centre but hopefully a little further on the side- road that runs on the west side of the Waterpocket Fold. Its good in afternoon light and you're only 40 miles from Boulder.

There may be some nice abandoned sheds along the way!!:D

Off I-70 south on UT 24 I found this little gem!

from: http://www.americansouthwest.net/utah/goblin_valley/state_park.html

"Goblin Valley State Park

Few people visit Goblin Valley State Park, which is a pity since the rock formations are every bit as dramatic as the more famous National Parks further south, although on a much smaller scale. It is close to the small village of Hanksville but far from any town of significance, and is reached along a turning off UT 24 after 11 miles of newly paved road on which it is possible to travel at 60 mph along the flat, but nearer 20 mph along some of the winding sections.Few people visit Goblin Valley State Park, which is a pity since the rock formations are every bit as dramatic as the more famous National Parks further south, although on a much smaller scale. Photographic road kill - ie. shooting from the car, no hiking, etc.

As I said, I'm not looking for the animal variety....

Sounds doable. Thanks David.

Evan: I'll deal with you later.

Stever: Thanks for the tip. I'll try to check it out.
