Is anyone using Saatchi on line to sell their photographs? I looked at the site, and joined because it seems to be a good deal, but I've no idea if it is actually worth doing. Here's a link: http://www.saatchionline.com/

hi jon

i haven't used saatchi to sell my photographs
but i have had great success selling my work through
imagekind .. their services can't really be beat.
and according to people who i have sold work to
both framed and unframed, their product is very good too.

good luck with your saatchi sales !

Thanks, John. I'll look into imagekind as well. My concern is that, since saatchi is free, and doesn't seem to be juried in any way, there might be so much work there that any given artist would be lost in the pile. Thanks for the lead on imagekind.

hi john

imagekind isn't juried as well, and they have a free option.
it is very easy to get lost in the pile too ...
they don't advertise or send people your way &c ... but they sort of do
via facebook and their blog ...

all their pricing is upfront. i pay a few dollars for an option
so i get a storefront / web address and a bunch more tags and galleries than the free membership.
it seems worth it, but i don't know ... its a lot of legwork ...

have fun !

I tried Saatchi online, it was easy because I was already a member, but only for a couple of days.

When I sold my first print I was dismayed to discover that postage, $40 (outside the US because they print them all there [something they hope to change in future]), was more than the cost of the print itself.

I stopped selling there after that, it just seemed too much to expect people to pay.

Other than that, as long as you're willing to fill in the tax thing they want for you to get your "profit", i's all simple and upfront.
