RZ67 tripod suggestions

Well, i went ahead with the Induro AT213

It was the perfect storm of a high weigh cap or 22lbs, with a lower total weight for its cap at 4.1 lbs, and a decent price of $143 with free shipping. It has all 3 leg warmers and all the basic stuff, tools, case ect. Mated with my Bogen 3047 at 3.4 lbs, ill have a total tripod of 7.5lbs, with an overkill weigh cap... Steady as she gooooes! I hope... ill update further.

By the way, I recently shot the rz and 110/2.8 indoors on a monopod, in fairly weak light. I didn't use a head at all, just screwed the body directly onto the monopod. It was totally fine at rather long exposures (1/8 or so) and very quickly maneuverable. And in any case I would say it was far preferable to handholding, with or without the L bracket. Just another option, very light and compact.

FWIW, this thread got me looking to replace my sold Bogen 3033. I found one locally with a 3047 head in like-new condition for $100 cash. Such a deal.

Ok - my 3047 bit me one day, just as bad if not worse than a ball head flipping over as the movement is restricted to one plane and it wont 'roll off' your jammy tartlets once its made its point (a little blood to highlight a deep and meaningful puncture and crush wound) - also I don't like the accumulative amount of lever arm on all the articulations so mine lies unused once I got a small ball head instead (brand, I forget).

For monstrous try out a Manfrotto 400 geared head, overkill for an RZ maybe but good for LF/Cine...

Since your camera has a rotating back, you might consider something like the Bogen 3130 head It's a cine head & pretty well damped so it's not going to allow the camera to flip over. It doesn't have a sideways flip though but with the RZ you shouldn't need it.
If for whatever reason you need an unusual angle, turn the camera 90 degrees.

It is a largish and heavyish head, but will likely last you your whole life and easily support almost anything you decide to put on it.

Since you've already purchased a 'pod, this is kinda beside the point....

AFAIK (someone smack me if I'm wrong) there is no standard the defines a tripod's carrying capacity. Since the manufacturer is free to quote whatever weight they like, the load rating is essentially worthless. Ideally, there would be a standardized test that combined rigidity, strength, resistance to vibration, etc. into some magic marketing number the consumer could use as a meaningful point of comparison.

^ True, which played into my process... IN the Induro line, they had some 11lb and 13lb cap pods, so i ent with twice as much as they would suggest for camera... So in a sense, i kinda out thought it from at least one aspect.

Wow, just finally got this tripod. Its mammoth. With the 3047 head its almost 32 inches tall.

Need some advice, Im very happy with the construction, so im looking Induros carbon fiber pods. I can get the CT114 which is only 2.8 lbs with a 17 lb cap and a 19.7" folder height. My problem is this: The bogen head is tall, at 6.5 inches, it makes even this very short set of legs 25.6 in total height. I can handle that, BUT, with the head attached it hardly fits in the bag, and thats WITH the control arms removed ( which is sort of a PITA) So where im going with this is... im not married to the 3047... its there something smaller out there thats just as strong? Its so solid and smooth, i love it, buts its just so ungainly. Mexico countdown is fast approaching and im afraid they wont let me on the plane with this weapon. LOL... but seriously.

My tripod says, "Induro AP2/AT213". It has a capacity of 18.7 lbs and comes with a 3-way pan head. I'm not sure how this tripod differs from yours (if it does), and maybe you can get the pan head separately. I use it with my RB67 and like it.

I bought mine from KEH, new, for quite a bit less than B&H had it on for, but unfortunately the shipping ate up most of the difference.

I just received the Induro CT114. I need advice fast. I paid 339 bucks and at that price I demand some razor tuned performance. Everything is great. Its solid, super light, very small.... yet one flaw. It has a grooved center column, and it seems that the groove is wider then the shaft, and even fully tightened down, it will still pan a small amount. This just kills me. After shipping back the first 2 pods, and finally shelling out what i consider to be a ton of cash, im really disappointed. Should i be? Should i let this be a deal breaker? Im leaving for mexico on tuesday... I can take it with me and void my return by trashing it in the dirt... or i can send it back, and try another.
